introducing blok widget

Published Dec 20, 2024

hi,

as any small startup we have large ambitions but also limited resources, so the ultimate question for us always comes back to:

how do we prioritize what to build?

now, here’s the little secret:

we truly never know.

the best we can do is:

1) make an educated guess 2) build the thing 3) measure it’s outcome

if we run this cycle fast and effectively, we end up gathering the information we need and always end up learning something new.

(whether the experiment was successful or not is outside of our control.)

then we run the cycle again, then again, then again. ad infinitum.

that’s a simple step-by-step of how we do things at blok.

but a question still remains:

how do we make the guess of what to build in the first place?

is it by listening to what active blokers are requesting, or more so by listening to our internal intuition and feel?

the reality is there’s no right answer here. it’s always a balance.

but.

there are 2 questions that we constantly refer back to when we feel we’re ready to make a guess:

1. will this feature decrease the friction needed for the user to blok 2. will this feature increase the friction for the user to unblok?

we need a "yes" to either of these questions as guarantee that we're not setting ourselves up for failure.

so, we’re now at the end of this cycle and have developed something new :).

introducing the blok widget: one less click for you to blok.

1. download the latest version of the app 2. add the widget to your home screen 3. test it out!

it’ll make your bloking life easier.

as always, i’m always an email or text away to answer any of your questions :).
